The old way of doing business is inadequate in today’s world of fraud investigations.  Fraud schemes are still being perpetrated every day in California.  Resources to combat fraud have been cut, if not eliminated.  Yet your stakeholders are expecting you to still perform at a higher level.  This presentation will reveal the value in using technology combined with best practices, which will result in an increase in the quality of the suspected fraud referral to law enforcement.

Chief John Standish, Retired, is a 32 year veteran of California law enforcement first serving in the California Highway Patrol, and then California Department of Insurance, Fraud Division. John has over 25 years of experience in investigating, supervising, and managing insurance fraud investigations. John was responsible for statewide operations, district attorney grant funding programs, legislation and regulations for the California anti-fraud programs.

John is currently a consultant to SAS, the largest privately held software company in the world, for the criminal justice – public safety, and fraud framework practice.  John is also consulting to the insurance industry for first party bad-faith litigation involving SIU operations including compliance and insurance fraud.

John is a Past President of the California Peace Officers’ Association, and is a member of the International Police Chief’s Association, the Police Futurists International Society, the Police Executive Research Forum, and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.  John is also the Past President of the Northern California Fraud Investigators’ Association, and currently serves on the Advisory Board to the University of San Francisco, International Criminal Justice Leadership Institute.

John graduated from the University of San Francisco with a degree in Organizational Behavior, and the California Peace Officer Standards Training Commission (POST) – Command College, Class 44.
